What is the PURE TOKYOSCOPE Podcast? Well… Author and fellow Substack writer Matt Alt and I have been recording together for over 100 episodes.
Our show is a mix of Japanese pop culture news and features and some of our best episodes to date have been:
This was my favorite pod of the several I’ve listened to so far - I’ll push back only the value of personal experience in writing - I’d argue it’s increasingly more important and interesting as AI gets better and better at storytelling from a nonattached, distant POV - I predict, in nonfiction at least, that this development will only make readers hungrier for real, personal stories told well. After all, the personal is the universal.
The strength of the material you guys cover, in fact, is already your own personal selves in the first place. Plenty of other Japan related things out there - but only two of you - amirite?
Keep rocking comrades
